All the arrancar under Sousuke's command are sorted into various ranks based on their strength, or age. Not every arrancar are under his command though, mostly through lack of interest on Aizen's behalf.
Espada: Japanese for "Ten Blades" and spanish for "Sword". Espada are the top-ranked arrancar in Sousuke's army. When first introduced, the espada held nine males and a female. Each member is chosen for superior fighting skill and then, a number from between 1 and ten are tattooed somewhere on their body. For instance, Nnoitora Jiruga's tattoo is on his tongue and Grimmjow's is on his lower back. Espada have control over the numeros and are said to be the strongest arrancar alive. The power gap between Espada and numeros are similar to the gap between captains and lieutenants in the Gotei 13. An espada's strength dangerously surpasses a numero's.
Privaron Espada: Japanese for "Ten Fallen Blades" and spanish for "Deprived Sword". Privaron are former espada who have officially lost their rank and are assigned a three-digit number. Being former espada, they are way stronger than the usual numero. They live in Tres Cifras, which in spanish means "Three Digits". Privaron were naturally created but were rendered obsolete after Sousuke began to artificially create arrancar to meet standards of his own.
Numero: Japanese for "Number Holders" and spanish for "Numbers". Numeros are the arrancar that specialize in fighting. They are given a number at birth from 11 to 99, 11 being the oldest and 99 the youngest. The basic uniform consists of a white-collared jacket and robes held together with a black sash. Regardless of the uniform, it is in fact customizable to give each numero a sense of individuality. The fighting ability of numeros is said to be superior to all other arrancar, except for current and privaron espada.
Fraccion: Japanese for "Subordinate Officers" and spanish for "Fraction". Fraccions are a subsection of the numeros that directly serve an espada. The number of fraccions for a given espada varies. For example, Stark and Nnoitora seem to have just one, while Szayel Aporro Granz has at least a dozen.
Exequias: Japanese for "Funerary Attacking Force" and spanish for "Funeral". The Exequias are arrancar who are part of the execution division. It is apparently charged with the termination of intruders and rebels. They are the equivalent of Soul Society's Onimitsukido. (Punishment Force)
